Tomcat Marching Pride hosts area high school students for Marching Band Visit Day

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride hosted more than a dozen area high school musicians, color guard members and twirlers to rehearse and perform with the band during halftime of the Tomcats’ football game on Saturday as part of its ninth annual Marching Band Visit Day.

Saturday’s event included 16 students from Western Pennsylvania and Ohio. Past events have drawn high school students from Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Maryland.

“This was a fun opportunity to visit our campus and experience life as a college musician, but it is also a great way to showcase our college and our band to high school students and their families,” Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride director Brian Harris said.

The Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride is celebrating its ninth season since it’s creation in 2010. The Marching Pride is open to students of all majors with previous band experience and performs at all home football games. The Marching Pride has been featured at many local and regional band festivals including a performance at Disney World in Orlando, Fla. In addition to the performance opportunities of the Marching Pride, the Music and Theatre Department will be traveling to Greece in May to perform throughout the city of Athens.  Also available to any student with prior experience, are the Thiel Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and Chamber Ensembles. These ensembles offer students further performance opportunities through major performances in the spring semester. Scholarships are available.
