GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College Psychology department students and faculty attended the Western Pennsylvania Undergraduate Psychology Conference that was held virtually for the first time.
Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Edinboro, Pa. hosted the 48th annual conference this spring which included 43 poster presentations and more than 100 people in attendance. Additionally, students and faculty from 10 regional colleges and universities attended.
Thiel students Sandra Dean ’21; Brooke Gosnell ’21; Clarence Kizer ’22; Stacy Reecks ’21; Jade Rhoades ’23; Zachary Smith ’23; and Madison Walsh ’23 presented at the conference and covered topics from teenage delinquency to political confirmation bias.
“We all created avatars and got to walk them around a room where all of the posters were set up,” Associate Professor of Psychology Kristel Gallagher, Ph.D. said. “Students were ‘standing’ next to their posters (like a real poster session) and viewers could pop in and out of their poster space to see their research and interact with them.”
Three faculty members, Gallagher; Natalie Homa, Ph.D.; and Laura Pickens, Ph.D. ’06 also accompanied the students.
“Our Thiel students did an amazing job representing Thiel College among all of the other institutions that were there,” Gallagher said. “It certainly was a memorable experience!”
The 2020 conference was canceled due to COVID-19 precautions.
