GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College awarded Kristyn Kinner ’19, of Alba, Pa., and (Eunice) Xin Ning Tan ’19, of Klang, Malaysia, November Student of the Month honors.
The Student of the Month is awarded to seniors. It is among the most prestigious student awards at Thiel College, with only about six students each semester earning the honor.
Kinner is a psychology major. She is senior class president and Psi Chi psychology honorary society president. Kinner participates in Les Lauriers scholarship, leadership and service honorary society, Lambda Sigma sophomore honor society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is also a member of the Thiel Student Support Network and a supplemental instruction leader for neuropsychology and general psychology.
Kinner is an intern with Greenville High School’s guidance counseling staff. She studied in San Jose, Costa Rica after winning the Vira I. Heinz Scholarship for Women in Global Leadership. Following graduation, she plans to attend graduate school.
Kinner, a 2015 graduate of Troy Junior/Senior High School, is the daughter of Steve and Nancy Kinner, of Alba, Pa.
Tan is earning a double major in accounting and finance. She is a member of the Pedas Fellows, Chi Eta Sigma business honorary society, Les Laurier Senior scholarship, leadership and service honorary society, and the National Society of Leadership and Success. She is also a writing lab tutor.
During her time at Thiel, Tan volunteered at EPIC Homes (with the Prudence Foundation) and at St. Paul’s Senior Living Community. She serves on the worship team at Bethel Life in Greenville, Pa., on guitar and vocals.
Tan is fluent in English, Mandarin and Malay, and can also speak Cantonese. After graduation, she plans to get a job at an accounting or finance firm.
Tan, a 2013 graduate of Hin Hua High School, is the daughter of Thomas Tan and Theresa Liu, of Klang, Malaysia.
