GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College and the Greenville Record-Argus newspaper sponsored a debate Thursday between William McConnell and D. Neil McEwen, the candidates for Mercer County Common Pleas Court judge.

Moderating the debate was Record-Argus Editor Caleb Stright and Thiel College’s Associate Academic Dean for Student Success and Professor of Neuroscience Greg Q. Butcher, Ph.D.

“Thiel College has always been a place committed to thoughtful and free conversations. Hosting this debate is a wonderful opportunity for the College to fulfill its role as a community resource and as a venue for open dialogue about the issues affecting Mercer County residents,” Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. said. “For the College to play a role in this vital element of democracy is a special privilege.”

Election Day is Nov. 2.
