GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Professor of Psychology and Chair of the Department of Psychology Laura Pickens, Ph.D. ’06 will serve as the Faculty Chair at Thiel College for the 2020-21 school year.
Pickens will serve a two-year term that expires in 2022. As faculty chair, Pickens serves as the spokesperson for the faculty, chairperson of the Faculty Council and chairperson of the Faculty Executive Committee. She also leads certain meetings when the College’s other top academic officers are absent.
Within the Department of Psychology, Pickens teaches the first-year student orientation, professional development and senior capstone courses, along with General Psychology, Positive Psychology, History & Philosophy of Psychology, and special topics seminars in her areas of research expertise. Pickens was presented the Distinguished Faculty Service Award in 2019 to celebrate her commitment to the College in various service areas.
Pickens graduated with a doctorate in behavioral neuroscience (2012) and a master’s degree in experimental psychology (2009) from Kent State University. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Thiel College in 2006.
