GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College was scheduled to be a host site for the American Heart Association Heart Walk at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26. Due to the pandemic, the in-person portion of the event has been canceled for off-campus groups, but campus groups will meet at the The Dr. Barry ’70 and Carol (Yeager) Stamm ’71 Track & Field Complex and walk an approximately two-mile path through downtown Greenville and ending at the Quad.
Students and employees can contribute to the existing teams or create a team. The 11 Thiel College teams have about 85 participants registered.
President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. is the chairperson for this year’s walk.
Following the walk, prizes will be awarded for Thiel College participants based on several different criteria.
Only Thiel students and employees will participate in the campus walk, which will allow everyone to maintain social distancing and wearing masks, Traverso said.
Participants can then post pictures and videos of their activities on social media using #MercerLawrenceHeartWalk or #WalkWhereYouAre hashtags, or share activities on the Mercer/Lawrence Heart Walk Facebook event page.
This year’s goal is to collect $110,000 for the American Heart Association.
