GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Thiel College chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity is conducting its annual Walk-A-Mile in Her Shoes fundraiser for Mercer County organization dedicated to eliminating domestic and sexual violence.
Members of the fraternity will be wearing high heels and collecting money at the intersection of routes 18 and 58 near the David Johnson Memorial Chapel from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day through Saturday, April 13.
The event supports Mercer County Aware, whose main goal is to support victims of domestic and sexual violence in Mercer County, Pa. The group is committed to educating, supporting, and advocating for all people who are suffering from domestic and sexual violence in Mercer County.
In a statement, the fraternity said, “We will be doing this by wearing high heels to signify ‘walking a mile’ in a domestic violence victim’s life. Here at Penn Nu, we are taught to be leaders in our communities; that’s why the brothers of Penn Nu will be strapping into our high heels and asking for your help to give those close in our community the support and strength they need to get through the pain they are going through. We are asking Mercer County, Thiel College, and the Sigma Phi Epsilon communities to come show your support.”
