GREENVILLE, Pa.—Homecoming—a Thiel College tradition since 1915—will celebrate the theme Let the Good Times Roar with events from Oct. 10–13.
The week starts with a nationwide celebration of Thiel College alumni on Thursday, Oct. 10. Alumni from around the country and world will post to their favorite social media channels wearing Thiel gear and posing with friends and family for National Thiel Spirit Day using #TCproud. Later that day, St. Paul’s Senior Living Community will host a joint cookout with Thiel College from 5–7 p.m. The event brings students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of both Thiel College and St. Paul’s together. Those who have been part of the Joining Generations partnership will be recognized at the event.
Friday kicks off campus events, including registration, the Blue-Gold Golf Outing, campus tours, wine tasting and Langenheim Memorial Library open house, paint and sip and a student pep rally. The Career Development Center is also hosting special alumni professionals panels for students on Friday in the James Pedas Communication Center. Professionals will discuss their different career paths and how their Thiel prepared them for where they are now. Panels will discuss diversity, Thiel tomorrow, business professions and live event management and will include C-level executives and leaders and experts in growing business sectors and industry.
The 39th Athletic Hall of Fame induction is also on Friday and the class includes Amber Bodrick ’09 (basketball, track & field), Caleb Goist ’04 (baseball), Dave Hendricks ’05 (football), George Kum-Nji ’05 (football), Steve Minton ’08 (football) and John Stevens ’65 (wrestling).
Saturday events include the parade ending in front of campus on College Avenue, special 5- and 10-year reunions, the Tomcat Family Zone, Alumni Awards Luncheon, football game against Saint Vincent, and marching band and alumni choir performances.
Family members of Thiel Colleges students are also invited to campus as the College celebrates Family Day on Saturday.
“This year’s events provide many ways for alumni, students, friends of the College and the community to celebrate with us,” Director of Alumni Relations David Hummel ’83 said. “We have this opportunity every year to pause and pay tribute to the past, recognize the present and look forward to the future. Every year we celebrate the camaraderie and the connection so many people have to our wonderful College.”
Thiel College is an independent college founded in the Lutheran tradition. Located in Greenville, Pa., the College offers 60 majors and minors, 24 varsity sports, and an 11:1 student-faculty ratio. The College is also home to a Master of Science in speech-language pathology, a Leadership Master of Business Administration and a Management Master of Business Administration. Both master’s degree programs offer innovative and accelerated five-year paths which allow students to earn a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years. The speech-language pathology program also has an accelerated 15-month graduate-level program. The M.B.A. program also has a 12-month post-graduate program. A dedicated faculty paired with dynamic research and internship opportunities produce numerous graduate school and job placements. Coeducational from its beginnings, the College remains committed to combining tradition with innovation.
