Thiel College announces 12 new faculty members for fall semester

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College has announced the addition of 12 new full-time faculty members.

“We are fortunate to have attracted 12 outstanding professors who will help further the mission of Thiel College in delivering an exceptional liberal arts education,” Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Lynn Franken said. “The new faculty are members of a distinguished staff of more than 110 instructors who produce career-ready graduates. The Thiel Commitment is embodied every day by the interactions of the dedicated and informed faculty of the College and the students. Faculty members are among the most vital ingredients for the academic flourishing of every Thiel student.”

New faculty members

Delbert Abi Abdallah (biology); Ronald Anderson ’07 (mathematics and computer science); Melissa Borgia (English); Greg Butcher (neuroscience); Nancy Castor (education and Director of Teacher Education); Marie Courtemanche (political science); Shannon Deets (psychology); David Duriancik (biology); John Gomolchak (business administration and accounting); Jared Hanneman (sociology); Yousif Mustafa (mathematics and computer science); Karen Shaffer (business administration and accounting).

Thiel College opening convocation for first-year students and transfers is at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the William Passavant Center. Ranked among the top 30 colleges and universities in the Northern Region by U.S. News and World Report, Thiel College has a 14-to-1 student-to-faculty ratio.
