GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College has announced Sheriff Gary Hartman has been named as coach of the Thiel College Shooting Club, which is now in its second year.
“We are thrilled to welcome Gary as the new coach of the Shooting Club,” says Mike McKinney, dean of students. “His training and experience coupled with his many years in law enforcement will help bring the Thiel Shooting Club to the next level.”
Hartman was elected as Mercer County sheriff in November 2011. He is a graduate of Kaplan University’s criminal justice program, the Mercyhurst Police Academy and Penn State University’s sheriff training and certification program. He has more than a decade of law enforcement experience in Mercer County.
As shooting club coach, Hartman is responsible for the overall management of the Shooting Club program, including recruiting, coordinating training sessions, implementing safety and risk management procedures, and scheduling and oversight of competitions, among other duties.
Hartman is a resident of Greenville, Pa.
