GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Thiel College Campus Ministry and Office of Admission staff will host Lutheran youth groups from around the region for RiseUp Together at Thiel College—an overnight youth and service event on Dec. 4-5.
Lutheran youth group members and their friends from congregations in Pa., Ohio, W.Va. and Va. are among the invited guests. RiseUp Together at Thiel College’s kickoff on Dec. 4 coincides with the celebration of the Rissell-Schreyer Dome opening. Youth group members and their adult advisers, along with Thiel College students and staff, will stay overnight in a lock-in style event with devotions, worship and Bible studies in the Howard Miller Student Center.
On Dec. 5, the attendees will do service work with the staff and residents of St. Paul’s, a continuing care community about a mile from campus.
RiseUp Together at Thiel College is a free event, but organizers are accepting a $5 donation to offset some of the costs. The Thiel College event is an offshoot of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s RiseUp youth gathering that was held in Detroit over the summer. A Thiel College contingent was among the 30,000 people who attended that event.
