GREENVILLE, Pa.—Nic Jones (Franklin, Pa./Franklin) finished fourth Saturday in the high jump at the University of Nebraska’s Devaney Sports Center, site of the 2014 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Jones earned his fourth-place finish and All-American status Saturday with a jump of six feet, 8.25 inches. He entered the championships seeded in a ninth-place tie in a field of 15 vying for a place on the medal stand.

A junior, Jones' best jump coming into the championships was six feet, 9.75 inches, which he earned when he took first place at the Tufts University Last Chance Meet on Thursday, March 6.

Prior to his performance at Tufts, Jones cleared six feet, nine inches in the high jump at the 2014 Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships at Youngstown State University on Feb. 27. He went on to be named the PAC Most Valuable Performer at the 2014 PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships after he also placed first in the long jump and second in the triple jump.

Jones was the third athlete to qualify for the indoor national championships under fifth-year Thiel track & field head coach Steve Carr.

Jones and the rest of the Tomcats will begin competition in their outdoor season on Saturday, March 22 when they take part in the California University (Pa.) Early Bird Invitational.
