GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College announced today that Jonathan Shearer has been appointed interim Director of Communications and Marketing, effective immediately.
Shearer has more than seven years of experience in marketing. He joined the College in 2011 as a web specialist and was promoted to associate director of web development in 2014.
During his web tenure, he successfully led an in-house institutional website redesign and designed a campus portal. He’s recently partnered with staff and students in the James Pedas Communication Center to develop web video content and long-form institutional videos, including a tribute to former president Dr. Robert Olson ’60, H’09.
“We are delighted to welcome Jonathan into his new role at the College,” said Dr. Troy D. VanAken, Thiel College president. “Since arriving on campus, he has been an active, creative leader. His position will play an important role in the future of the College as we prepare for our sesquicentennial.”
In his new position, Shearer will provide leadership for all communications and brand-building efforts. He will build partnerships with Thiel’s faculty and professional staff across the College to support its mission of providing students with a quality higher education. His primary focus will be developing an integrated communication plan that unites print, web, video and social media.
Shearer earned a bachelor’s degree in fine art (graphic design) from Youngstown State University. Prior to arriving at Thiel, Shearer served as creative director of S Brand Inc. and graphic designer at Keynote Media Group in Youngstown, Ohio. He resides in Brookfield, Ohio.
