GREENVILLE, Pa.-- The Rissell-Schreyer Dome at Thiel College is serving as a center of year-round athletic activity this winter, hosting a full slate of camps, clinics, tournaments, team practices and external partnerships throughout December, January and February.
The Dome’s winter schedule features programming in softball, baseball, men’s soccer and track and field, welcoming youth and high school athletes from across the region for training, competition and skill development during the offseason. In addition to collegiate and youth camps, the Dome continues to support team practices and third-party training opportunities as space allows.
The breadth of winter programming highlights the Dome’s versatility as one of the region’s premier indoor athletic facilities, supporting youth development, team preparation and community partnerships in a collegiate setting.
Individuals, teams and organizations interested in hosting practices, camps, clinics or events in the Rissell-Schreyer Dome are encouraged to contact Assistant Director of Athletics – Internal Operations Devin Weisbarth ’22 at 724-589-2241 for availability and additional information.
Among the season’s highlights is the Thiel College softball program’s Holiday Dome Bash, a multi-week series over the Christmas and New Year’s break that includes youth tournaments, instructional camps, pitching development sessions and Reindeer Four-Way Friendly games. The events serve athletes from 10U through high school and provide hands-on instruction from the Thiel softball coaching staff and student-athletes.
Thiel baseball is also hosting a series of winter camps in January for players ages 8 through high school seniors. Campers train directly with the Tomcats’ coaching staff and players while participating in drills and workouts used by the program. Additional winter offerings include a youth soccer foot skills clinic hosted by the Thiel men’s soccer program for boys and girls ages 5-14, as well as a comprehensive lineup of February track and field clinics focused on discus, shot put, speed and hurdles for students in grades 9-12.
The Dome’s winter activity extends beyond camps and clinics through new community partnerships. Thiel College has entered into a partnership with the Youngstown Patricians, designating the Rissell-Schreyer Dome as the organization’s official off-season workout and training location. The collaboration provides the Patricians access to a full turf field and climate-controlled environment that supports high-level training regardless of weather conditions, while reinforcing Thiel’s commitment to community engagement and amateur athletics.
