Bill Upton ’75 to be recognized as Saturday’s Gameday Honoree

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, will recognize alumnus Bill Upton ’75 as its Gameday Honoree during Saturday’s home game against Geneva College. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Stoeber Field at Alumni Stadium.

Upton is a 1975 graduate of Thiel College. He was a business administration major and had Professor David Miller as his academic adviser. Miller is in his 55th year of teaching and is the longest-tenured professor in the College’s history. Upton was a member of the cross country, track, tennis (two-year team captain) and the 1972 Presidents’ Athletic Conference championship football team. Upton’s father, the late Rev. Warren E. Upton, graduated from Thiel in 1949.

Upton is the director of business development for Green Apple Business Services, where he has been employed for more than 20 years. Green Apple is a Pittsburgh-based brokerage firm that finds creative revenue sources for companies on a barter basis. They work with more than 3,000 businesses and is the largest independently owned trade exchange on the east coast.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Bill’s contributions and connections to the College,” Vice President of College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “Bill’s story is just one example of the unique bond between the College and each of the members of our 15,000-plus person alumni network. It is these lifelong associations that makes Thiel College such a special place.”
