GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Thiel College, a leading liberal arts college in northwest Pennsylvania, named 1983 graduate David Hummel director of alumni relations. He begins Feb. 1.
Hummel joins Thiel after a 35-year career that spanned private and government accounting and work in real estate. He worked for the U.S. Department of Energy as an accountant beginning in 1986 and retired from the department in 2011 as a senior accountant. He also began a career real estate in 1990 that continues today. Hummel will also be a key figure in the College’s development of an Alumni and Career Engagement Center. The facility will be a “home base” for alumni who come back to campus and will connect students with alumni.
“David’s depth of professional qualifications and Thiel College connections were impressive and made it clear that he belonged at Thiel,” Vice President for College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “His professional experience will make him a valuable asset as we roll out the new ACE Center. His enthusiasm and love for the College is infectious and will help us expand our alumni network and build on the passion our graduates have for their alma mater.”
Hummel graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and accounting. He has been an active member of the Thiel alumni community and was a member of the College’s Alumni Association Board of Directors from 1990-1996 and returned to the board in 2012.
