Allgeier, Matsuoka named Thiel College Students of the Month for December

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Seniors Katherine E. Allgeier, of Erie, Pa., and Yuki Matsuoka, of Tokyo, Japan, were named Thiel College Students of the Month for December.

Allgeier, a 2012 graduate of Northwest Pennsylvania Collegiate Academy, is an English writing and literature major and media communications minor. She is a member of the English honorary society Sigma Tau Delta, The National Society of Leadership and Success, and Alpha Chi—the top academic honor society at Thiel College. She served as the president of the English club and editor of the campus newspaper, The Thielensian. She works as a tutor in the writing lab and also for the Department of English. Following graduation in May, Allgeier will pursue a career in the writing, publishing or advertising fields.

She is a daughter of Beth and Charles Allgeier, of Erie, Pa.

Matsuoka, a 2011 graduate of Hosei University Junior/Senior High School, was a business administration major and a Dean’s List awardee four times. The December 2015 graduate was certified Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges and earned a Thiel College library research and writing award. He was also a member of the rugby club and Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. Matsuoka has accepted a position at The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Co.—the largest commercial bank in Japan.

He is a son of Masatsuna and Emiko Matsuoka, of Tokyo, Japan.

The Student of the Month is among the most prestigious academic awards Thiel College grants each year.
