Academic Coaching

Academic Coaching is a service that supports students in developing a broad range of skills that are important to achieving success, including time-management, organization, strategies for goal setting and effective study habits, exam prep, motivation, and self-advocacy.

Accessibility Resource Center

  • Academic Accommodations: To ensure that you have the best possible academic experience, we offer a variety of academic accommodations. The accommodations available are designed to help you achieve your academic goals.
  • Housing Accommodations: Thiel Residential Life and AVI Food Services provide reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities so that they have an equal opportunity to use and enjoy campus housing.
  • Temporary Services due to physical injury, concussions, etc.
  • Academic Accommodations: To ensure that you have the best possible academic experience, we offer a variety of academic accommodations. The accommodations available are designed to help you achieve your academic goals.

ACT 101 Program

Thiel participates in the Act 101 program, a state-funded support grant program that helps academically and financially qualified Pennsylvania students succeed in college. Act 101 provides various academic services (including free textbooks) to help eligible students develop their academic abilities and enrich their academic experience.

Peer-Led Learning

  • Conversational Coaching is a service we provide for international students. In a supportive space, we help non-native English speakers adjust to campus life by practicing everyday conversations. This also bridges the gap by explaining American culture, slang, and customs. It helps students understand the many common expressions Americans use that may not seem logical but are often used in casual conversations.
  • Tutoring : Peer Tutoring sessions provide students in a wide range of courses (including graduate courses) with an opportunity to learn and explore course content in a personalized interactive setting.
  • Study Groups: Collaborative study groups meet weekly and provide students in select challenging courses with an opportunity to learn and explore course content in an interactive, small group setting. Click to see the current semester schedule.
  • Writing Lab: The Writing Lab provides a gathering place where student writers work with other student writers in a supportive environment. We can work on writing in your coursework, or for any other type of writing you wish to bring, including cover letters, resumes, scholarship essays, or creative writing. We can also assist with developing and practicing presentations.
  • Sensory Studios: Research shows that sensory rooms—specially designed spaces that provide a calming environment—can help students manage sensory overload, stress, or anxiety. Thiel boasts two sensory studios which can be reserved in 30-minute increments Monday through Friday during business hours.
