1930s
VIVIAN (LONCOSKE) LOWTHER ’35 is a Thiel class agent and continues to send lovely correspondence to several alumni classes. She lives in Morristown, N.J., and will be 92 years young in November.

1940s
CHARLES PETERSON ’43 has agreed to continue serving as a director on Thiel’s Alumni Board for another three-year term. He and his wife, Agnes, live in Erie, Pa.


THE REV. HARRY WOOD ’47 has agreed to continue serving as a director on Thiel’s Alumni Board for another three years. He lives in Greenville.


REV. CLOYD OSBORNE ’49 and his wife, Alberta, celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 15, 2006. They have three children, six grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, two great-grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren.

1950s
JENELYN (CLAPIE) BAKER ’51 and husband, Jim, have four children and live in West Farmington, Ohio. She enjoys her grandchildren, selling Avon products, and is an active volunteer in her church.


DORIS HELLSTROM ’53 is retired and living in Evanston, Ill. She is pleased to be kept abreast of Thiel’s news and fondly remembers her roommates, Martha (Bender) Richmond and Florence (Weir) Gillette.


FRED W. MILLER ’56 is retired and enjoying life in Venice, Fla. His wife, Loretta, is a mortgage advisor with Century 21. They have three children.


PAULA (BOEHME) SCHNEE ’56 lives in Fresno, Calif., and wishes all reunion-attendees well.


PHYLLIS ZIMMERMAN ’56 lives in Santa Barbara, Calif., and will receive the Alumni Achievement Award from Concordia in October of this year.


CARL OLSEN ’59 and JANICE (BRININGER) OLSEN ’59 are enjoying retirement from chemical sales and teaching math, respectively. They live in Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., and have a home in Suffolk, Va. They have three children and seven grandchildren.

JAMES THOMAS LERCH ’59 is a chaplain assistant for Heart-Help Ministry and has worked in the Cleveland area and Plano, Texas. His wife of 46 years, Jo, died in 2005.


RAE (WEISS) JOHNSON ’59 has accepted a position as a director on Thiel’s Alumni Board. A retired school teacher, she continues to host the Thiel Choir Reunion Breakfast during Homecoming each year in her Greenville home.

1960s
The REV. DR. CLYDE McGEE ’61 retired from the Lutheran ministry in 2004 after 41 years of service. He and his wife, Peggy, live in Akron, Ohio, and have two children and four granddaughters. They enjoy gardening, travel, family, reading, exercise and community volunteering. He notes that five of his former confirmation students are enrolled at Thiel.


ARNOLD R. MOON ’61 was married in March 2005. He and his wife, Rosanne, live in Seneca, S.C.


LINDA (REED) SCHAEFFER ’61 is retired. She and her husband, Bob, have homes in Spencerport, N.Y., and Port Charlotte, Fla., the latter having been hit by Hurricane Charlie (and now replaced). She volunteers with the LPGA and men’s golf tournament in her area. They have seven grandchildren.


The REV. BILL BRUGGEMAN ’62 and ANN (JOHNS) BRUGGEMAN ’63 work together for ELCA with The Comite Inter Luterano para Ministerios en La Frontera (US/Mexico). He is the ministry coordinator and she is the health awareness coordinator. They live in San Antonio, Texas, and have two daughters and four grandchildren.


CARL J. OLSON ’62 retired in March as quality control coordinator for Embrex, Inc. of Durham, N.C. He and his wife, Barbara, a school principal for Faith Lutheran School, live in Cary, N.C. They have two children and three grandchildren.


SUZANNE (DIEHL) GRIMSLEY ’63 retired from Long Beach Unified School District in 2000. She and her husband, James, live in Seal Beach, Calif. They have one daughter, Joanna.


The REV. BRUCE SCHRADER ’63 retired as pastor of Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oswego, N.Y., after 32 years. He enjoys the outdoors and bike riding.


KATHY KENNEDY ’64 is the executive director of Citizens Library and system administrator of Washington County (Pa.) Library System. She enjoys her work and the opportunity to help communities develop public library resources. She resigned from Monroeville Public Library after 19 years of service. Kathy loves to travel and visits her family in Fort Worth, Texas, every year.


HARRY G. SOUDERS ’64 and CHRISTIE (HARMAN) SOUDERS ’65 live in Wexford, Pa. He is a retired ELCA pastor, while she is senior administrative assistant for UPMC’s Project Research Program.


FREDERICK HAER ’65, Thiel alumnus and trustee, plans to open an educational and clinical neuroscience center in Greenville. He is president and chief executive officer of FHC, which is based in Maine and has a branch in Greenville. See article on page 20.


JOHN TODD ’65 reports he is in good health again. He and a group of fraternity brothers recently got together in Pittsburgh.


DR. JIM WEHNER ’65 has three grown children and his chief avocation is playing the Highland bagpipe. He is an adjunct professor of composition, literature and German at Indiana-Purdue University in Fort Wayne, Manchester College and Ivy Tech.


BOB WILSON ’65 is a senior staff accountant with Anadarko Petroleum Corporation in The Woodlands, Texas.


JUDITH (DINGFELDER) BASHFORTH ’67 is a reading and English teacher for sixth grade in Sylvania Schools. She and her husband, Charles, live in Maumee, Ohio. They have two children, Amy and Charles, Jr.


DR. BETTY L. BITNER ’67 is head of a new master of arts in teaching degree program for certified elementary teachers at Wilson College in Chambersburg, Pa.


JAMES W. UMMER ’67 was selected by his peers to be included in the 2007 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for Trusts and Estates Law. He is one of nine Rothman Gordon Attorneys selected and he is a partner at that law firm in Pittsburgh.


RAYMOND CHARLESON ’69 is an actor living in California. He portrayed one of the passengers in the film, “United 93.”


EARL R. FENDER ’69 has joined the senior management team as vice president and general manager for orthopedics with Osiris Therapeutics, Inc.


AL GOELLNER ’69 lives with his wife, Carol, in McKinney, Texas, where he is senior managing counsel for JC Penney Corporation. They have a daughter, Eva, and a son, Tim.


FORREST KENNEDY ’69 and KATHLEEN (CHIPAK) KENNEDY ’70 have both retired from teaching and live in Locust Grove, Va. They have two sons and one grandson.


EDWARD A. NEIDERHISER ’69 is facility chaplaincy program director for the State Correctional Institution at Graterford, Pa. He and his wife, Sally, live in North Wales, Pa.


SAMUEL POOLE ’69 is CEO of Poole Investment Ventures of Escondido, Calif. He and his wife, B.J., are raising two grandchildren, Andrea and Kobe.

DR. MARK A. NORDENBERG ’70, 17th chancellor of The University of Pittsburgh, has been recognized with the endowment of the Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg University Chair in honor of his 10th anniversary of university leadership.


JANET (KEPPLE) OPALINSKI ’70 has agreed to continue as a director of the Thiel College Alumni Board for another three years. She lives with her husband, Fred ’70, in Reading, Pa.


BILL JOHNSON ’71 is vice president of telecom sourcing for France Telecom in Ft. Myers, Fla. He serves as president of their local homeowners’ association. He and his wife, Anne, have a son and a daughter, as well as five grandchildren.


JANET (PRICKETT) MACCARTNEY ’71 retired from teaching. She is a master gardener and owns her own garden design company, Growing is Knowing.


STEPHEN G. SCHROEDER ’71 has retired after 34 years of teaching at Neshaminy High School, Langhorne, Pa. He and his wife, Joy, live in Southampton, Pa.


SUZANNE (BENINTEND) BAKER ’72 retired after 34 years as a pediatric physical therapist and is currently showroom manager of Crescent Baths & Kitchens. She lives with her husband, Stephen, in Pittsburgh. They have two children, Sarah and Jason.


DAN SCHNEIDER ’73 was inducted into the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 2006. He retired from teaching at Reynolds High School in June. He and his wife, Sheila (Moneypenny) ’73, live in Sharon, Pa.


LEAH (GLESSNER) DEVER ’74 retired from the U.S. Department of Energy in June 2006. She is now living in Bonita Springs, Fla.


RAYMOND HANLON ’74 is a director on the Thiel College Alumni Board. He works at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and lives with his wife, Donna, in Pittsburgh.


BARRY OMAN ’74 and LINDA (DEAN) OMAN ’75 reside in Greenville. Barry works for Werner Co., and Linda is a teacher in the Jamestown School District. Barry was inducted into Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 2006, and is currently a volunteer assistant with the Thiel College football team.


DOUGLAS R. POLICASTRO ’74 is a registered pharmacist and the administrator of the Masonic Home of New Jersey. He is also Grand Master of Masons for the state of New Jersey.


BECKY (ANDERSON) POMEROY ’74 opened a private counseling practice specializing in the treatment of anxiety and depressive disorders. She and her husband, Lee, live in Erie, Pa., and they have three sons, Joel, Keith, Andrew.


CAROL SCHNEIDER ’74 was honored by the Teacher Excellence Center at its third annual celebration in Pittsburgh. With 32 years of service, she teaches French at Franklin Regional High School.


VICTORIA (ROMEI) HARPSTER ’75 has been an elementary school teacher with the Milton School District since 1975. She lives in Milton with her husband, Tim. They have two children.


ERIC C. SCHWARTZ ’75 works for the Social Security Administration and performs as a musician at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. He and his wife, Mary, were recently honored as Volunteers of the Year by the Howard County Branch of the YMCA. They live in Ellicott City, Md.


JANE (CULLEN) MARSTELLER ’77 is a human services program specialist for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. She and her husband, Bryan, married in January 2001 and live in York, Pa. She has two children and two grandchildren.


JANE L. BURCROFF ’78 is an English teacher for Sullivan West Central School District in the Catskills. She lives in White Sulphur Springs, N.Y., and enjoys volunteering for various missions, traveling around the world serving others.


PETER M. BISTRANSIN ’79 is a major in the U.S. Army on active duty in Kosovo. His address is Multi-National Brigade – East HHC-TFF-JIC Camp Bondsteel APO AE 09340.


MARK MASTERSON ’79 recently joined the Thiel College Alumni Board of Directors. He and his wife, Karen, live in Pittsburgh where Mark works for Watson Capital Partners, LLC.


RON MORRONE ’79 is the owner of Ron & Frank’s Gourmet Drink Mixes in Cheswick, Pa.


MICHAEL ZAWOYSKY ’79 is executive vice president and CFO of Footlocker Europe and lives in the Netherlands.


1980s
DR. KATHY (McCURDY) LISZKA ’80, associate professor of computer science at the University of Akron, received a Fulbright award to teach wireless computing and conduct scientific seminars at the Southern Ural State University in Chelyabinsk, Russia.


LESLIE D. SHAFFER ’80 has been promoted to associate financial representative for Northwestern Mutual Financial Network. She and her husband, John, live in Albuquerque, N.M.


JEFFREY W. KORCZYK ’81 was promoted to lieutenant in June 2006 and assigned as District III commanding officer of the Allegheny County Police. He and his wife, Tracey, live in Allison Park, Pa.


DENNIS STEPHENS ’81 received a certificate of appreciation for 25 years of service with the Greenville-West Salem Township Police Department. He currently serves as chief of police and resides in Greenville with his wife, Grace (Kotelec) ’80.


DR. SHAWN BROOKS ’82 has accepted the position of director of residence life at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Brooks completed his Ph.D. in higher education and organizational change from UCLA in 2002 and returned to the Pittsburgh area in November 2004.


DAVID RHODES ’82 has accepted the position of vice president of enrollment management at Marietta College in Marietta, Ohio. He and his wife, Bonnie (Gilford) ’81, have three sons.

STEVEN WOLOSZN ’82 is a teacher for Broward Schools. He and his family live in Pompano Beach, Fla.


MIKE LANCASHIRE ’83 has been promoted to vice president of claims for The Main Street America Group, based in Jacksonville, Fla.


BETSY (BROUGHER) MONACO ’83 is a marketing manager for Cingular Wireless. She and her husband, Mike, live in Pittsburgh.


AUDREY (TRUGLIO) PIERCE ’83 is the mother of three children, Lindsay Marie, Michael Alfonze, and Jesse James. They live in Winter Park, Fla.


RICHARD BRADFORD ’86 works as an exercise physiologist at Penn State Hershey Medical Center. He recently ran his second marathon. He lives in Hummelstown, Pa.


KEVIN EMERY ’86 teaches third grade at Thomas W. Holtzman School. His wife, Elizabeth, is also a teacher. They live in Harrisburg, Pa., and have two children, Morgan and Aidan.


LT. BRIAN J. STAMM ’87 is a chaplain with the U.S. Navy and stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He and his wife, Mary Ellen, have three children, Christopher, Rebecca and Matthew. He earned his doctorate of ministry degree in May from The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia.


MARLANA TICE ’87 was inducted into the Thiel College Athletic Hall of Fame, Class of 2006. She lives in Hermitage, Pa.


SUSAN (CHANEY) PECK ’88 is a controller with the Norair Engineering Corporation in Maryland. Her son, Steven, successfully underwent surgeries this year to protect his hearing.


DR. MARILEE MIFSUD ’89 is the new chair of the Department of Rhetoric and Communication Studies at the University of Richmond in Virginia. Her most recent publication, “Rhetoric as Gift /Giving,” will appear in the Journal of Philosophy and Rhetoric.


KELLY SIZER ’89 recently joined the Thiel College Alumni Board as a director. She works for the American Cancer Society and lives in New Castle, Pa.

1990s
L. MICHELLE (STAHL) USCHOCK ’90 has relocated from Pittsburgh to Painted Post, N.Y., and is an individualized care coordinator for Pathways, Inc. She and her husband, David, have four children, Luke, Elijah, Hannah and Greta.


ERIK BIELATA ’91, executive director of Greenville Area Leisure Services Association, was a featured guest speaker at the Kiwanis Club in the spring. Four members of the Thiel Circle K Club were guests at the meeting. Erik and his wife, Kelly, have a son, Landon, and twin daughters, Laris and Kennedy.


CHRISTOPHER CORTEZ ’91 is the owner of Southwestern Environmental, a water treatment sales company in Dallas. He and his wife, Lisamarie, have three children, Alycea, Christian and Kaylee.


TAMMY (LLOYD) JONES ’91 is director/teacher of the ABC Bright Beginnings Nursery School and was named to Who’s Who among American Teachers in 2004-05 and 2005-06. She lives in Carlisle, Pa., with her husband, James, and children, Christine, Elijah and Sean.


PAMELA J. MICKUS ’91 was recently promoted to credit manager of Winner Steel, Inc. She lives in Hermitage, Pa.


LISA (PILLSBURY) RAMSEY ’91 is assistant director of student activities for John Carroll University. She lives in Hudson, Ohio, with her husband, Michael, and children, Nicholas and Zachary.


DR. CARA HOEHN ’92 earned a Ph. D. in business from Robert Morris University in May.


MARY BETH (WHITE) PICCIRILLI ’92 is a registered respiratory therapist for UPMC, Greenville. She is proud that her husband, Joseph, was the construction superintendent for Thiel’s David Johnson Memorial Chapel. They live with their daughters, Melissa, Amy and Emily in Jamestown, Pa.


BRENDA (MAGARGEE) ROYER ’92 is a family advocate for Mercer County Head Start. She lives in Sharon, Pa., with her husband, Warren, and children, Emily, Robbie and Rachel. Rachel is currently a Thiel Kitten cheerleader.


KEITH GARDNER ’93, former controller of Applebee’s Restaurants, has become owner of The Mighty Dog in Penn Hills, Pa.


THERESA LYNN GROVE ’93 was an honoree at the Celebration of Teachers in Excellence for 2005-06 held in Pittsburgh in April.


GARY KLARIC ’93 is a financial advisor after serving six years in the U.S. Army. He had been assigned to the personal staff of several high-ranking military officials. He often reminisces about Thiel and his football team. He also wanted to thank the coaches and professors for believing in him and his classmates and “for pushing us to our limits…to make us better in everything we do.”


PATRICK L. HELBLING ’94 is director of client services for Coordinated Group of Companies in Pittsburgh. He and his wife, Kathleen, have two children, Will and Connor.


CONNIE DUSAK ’95 is circular advertising program coordinator for United Hardware in Plymouth, Minn.


DAVID KUZMA ’95 has been a history teacher and football coach for 10 years for Fauquier County Public Schools. He lives with his wife, Julie, and daughters, Madison and Katherine, in Warrenton, Va.


DAN LAPIC ’95 earned a master of arts degree in finance from Robert Morris University.


SHELLIE (KUNDRICK) OESTREICHER ’95 is a regulatory affairs specialist with Respironics, Inc. in Murrysville, Pa. She lives with her husband, Joe, and daughter, Chloe, in Harrison City, Pa.


SARA K. EVANS ’98 is an implementation consulting manager for Kaplan K12 Learning Services in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She and her son, John, live in Pittsburgh.


THOMAS A. McGUIRE ’98 is president of Cedar Investments LLC, a real estate development company. He and his wife, Gina, live in Collingswood, N.J.


ERIC J. VERDI ’98 is program director of vocational and psychological services and head baseball coach for Laurel High School. He and his wife, Rachel, live with their children, Leah Rae and Andrew John, in New Castle, Pa.


JENNIFER (CLAIR) CHURCHILL ’99 runs the finance office for the Byzantine Catholic Diocese of Parma. She lives with her husband, Christopher, and children, Brooke and Christopher, in Twinsburg, Ohio.


BRAD DOYLE ’99 was promoted to assistant sales manager with the Hermitage branch of Sky Bank. He and his wife, KIMBERLY (WILSON) DOYLE ’01, live in Sandy Lake, Pa.


PHILLIP M. RODENBAUGH ’99 is regional sales manager, in charge of the west coast, for Powered Aire, Inc., of Greenville. He and his wife, Maria, live in Sharon, Pa., with their daughter, Anna.

MONOCA SUE COPLEY ’00 earned a master of education degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in May 2006.


TIMOTHY JACOB GOETZE ’00 graduated with the degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine on June 4, 2006.


DAVID S. SCHRIEBER ’00 is an option trader for KeyBanc Capital Markets in Cleveland.


AARON K. STEWART ’00 publishes a worldwide sports magazine, promoting different countries’ tourism. His magazine can be viewed at www.sportsandtravel.com. He resides in Singapore.


STEPHANIE D. TISCHENDORF ’00 is a senior program associate at Ohio State University. She lives in Delaware, Ohio.


SAYURI (SAI) IWASHITA ’01 is a counselor and planner with Kumamoto Study-Abroad Information Center, (NPO) Intercultural Youth Exchange Organization in Japan.


JACLYN (PETERSON) THOMAS ’01 is a senior public accountant with Hill, Barth & King, LLC, focusing on accounting and auditing services. She resides in Greenville with her husband, Greg, and stepdaughters.


DAVID DEUTSCH ’02 lives in Abingdon, Md., and was recently promoted to offensive coordinator at the high school where he coaches. He recently became engaged and is planning a June 2008 wedding.


JOCELYN (BROWN) CILIK ’03 is employed at the University of Pittsburgh. She and her husband, IVAN CILIK ’01, live in Cranberry Township, Pa.


NATHAN SHRADER ’03 has completed his coursework for a master’s degree in political science from Suffolk University in Boston and has been hired as a communications director at the Berman Company in Washington, D.C. He has residences in Pennsylvania and Arlington, Va.


TUCKER PAUL COPENHAVER ’04 earned a master’s degree in biology from Clarion University of Pennsylvania in May 2006.


AMY LYNN DELFRATTE ’04 is director of children and youth ministries at Emmanuel Episcopal Church at Brook Hill in Richmond, Va., where she lives.


NEIL JONES ’04 has completed all the requirements for becoming a funeral director. He now lives in Carlisle, Pa., and works for Hoffman Roth Funeral Home.


LEIGH A. MULLETT ’04 is a staff accountant for Berkman, Jorgensen, Masters & Stafman, LLC in Warren, Ohio. She lives in Cortland, Ohio.


SARA WISE ’04 is a newly licensed funeral director for Rybicki & Son Funeral Home in Garfield Heights, Ohio. She lives in Streetsboro, Ohio.


ROBERT K. DILLON ’05 enjoys his work at Gannondale in Erie, Pa.


JULIE A. GREER ’05 is a secondary education teacher at Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Md. She plans to marry JUSTIN M. PAGE ’05 in August 2007.


ERICA GREGAIRE ’05 is a social studies teacher for the Baltimore County School District. She lives in Glen Burnie, Md.


ANNA LOUKIANOVA ’05 is attending graduate school at the University of Pittsburgh and is completing a distance internship with a Boston-based organization dealing with defense and military policy.


JUSTIN M. PAGE ’05 is a security specialist for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission in Washington, D.C. He is pursuing a master’s degree in public policy at George Mason University in Arlington, Va., where he lives.


KIMBERLY A. PEARCE ’05 is pursuing a master’s in education with principal certification at California University of Pennsylvania. She has completed her first year of teaching English at Waynesboro Middle School. She lives in Waynesboro, Pa., with her daughter, Taylor.


ELIZABETH PRADA ’05 is the accounts coordinator in records management for the University of Pittsburgh.
NICOLE R. STEVENSON ’05 resides in Mayville, N.Y.


CHRISTINA L. URIE ’05 is a residential program worker at Twin Trees, Inc., in Connellsville, Pa., where she lives.


DANA VANKIRK ’05 is pursuing a master’s in school counseling at Duquesne University. She is a therapeutic support services person and works as a counselor for Mercy Behavioral Health.


KRYSTAL WASCHER ’05 is a legislative assistant in the district office of state Sen. Bob Robbins (R-50). She participated as a panelist in the Senate Republican Policy Committee’s policy hearing at Thiel College in July. The hearing was a forum for local individuals to testify on venture capital, agricultural, and law enforcement issues before a panel consisting of Sen. Robbins, Sen. Joe Scaranati (R-25), and members of the Senate Policy Committee. She is an executive board member of the Pennsylvania Young Republicans and assisted in chartering a Mercer County chapter of the organization. She is attending Duquesne University School of Law and has been accepted as a CLEO Scholar. The CLEO Program is administered by the American Bar Association in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Education and provides participants with exclusive scholarship and employment opportunities as well as individualized academic support for the duration.


GREG ALLISON ’06 is attending Duquesne School of Law and lives in Castle Shannon, Pa.


JUSTIN SCOTT BOUMANS ’06 is a student at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.


JONATHAN BRANDAU ’06 is a sales representative for Vantine Imaging. He lives in Milton, Pa.


ANNETTE CRAWFORD ’06 is a student at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She resides in Clarendon, Pa.


SHEILA DODDO ’06 is a therapeutic support services staff member of Paoletta Psychological Services of Mercer, Pa. She lives in Greenville.


LAURA GLASS ’06 attends Kent State University as a research assistant and graduate student. She lives in Allison Park, Pa., and is engaged to marry JUSTIN PICKENS ’05 in June 2007.


ADAM GUTHRIE ’06 is an intern for William Slater II Funeral Service and has accepted a position as a director on the Thiel College Alumni Board. He lives in Pittsburgh.


IAN JANOSKO ’06 is a graduate student at the University of Pittsburgh. He lives in Munhall, Pa.


IRENE LEWIS ’06 is an admissions representative for the Business Institute of Pennsylvania in Sharon, Pa. She resides in Greenville with her family.


MALLORY LUCCHETTI ’06 attends Seton Hill University and resides in Irwin, Pa.

GORDON PARKS H’76 died in March 2006. The youngest of 15 children, he became a renowned and award-winning photojournalist, fashion photographer, filmmaker, musical composer, novelist, poet and painter. He is perhaps best remembered for his photo essays for Life magazine and as the director of the 1971 film Shaft. He also co- founded the magazine Essence.
