GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College strategic management class developed a strategic plan for Alan Endicott and Shaun Endicott of Gatehouse Winery, located in Jamestown, Pennsylvania, that was presented to the Endicotts on December 5.

The overall project manager was Alex Andreozzi ’23. He was responsible for the direction of the teams and the construction of the final strategic plan. Reporting to Andreozzi were the leaders of the four teams.

As part of the project, the marketing/advertising team developed a customer survey to gather information on the demographics of the Winery’s customers. From this information, the team created a customer profile to enable the owners to better serve their customer’s needs. They wrote an advertising plan encompassing traditional methods along with modifying a social media platform. The team also came up with a product store selling wine-related products promoting Gatehouse Winery.

The facilities team produced a layout of the kitchen area showing the flow of product to achieve the doubling of the production of pizzas.

The costing team developed a list of competitors’ pricing of pizzas and wines in a 60-mile radius. They also produced a listing of raw material costs for in-house construction of the kitchen expansion.

The wedding venue team developed spreadsheets showing outside vendors and their costs to have weddings at the winery. These spreadsheets indicated caterers, bakeries, make-up, and tent rentals.
