GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is a supporting organization for the Americans for the Competitive Enterprise System, which sponsors the Pennsylvania Business Week programs that promote an understanding of entrepreneurship and free-market economics primarily among high school students.
For the past 24 years, the Pennsylvania Business Week programs have educated thousands of students and teachers about real-world business relations and processes. By providing these educational programs that inform participants about economics and related business topics, the ACES endeavors to further its mission of promoting the American free enterprise system in order to build a stronger economic future. The College’s monetary commitment represents the Thiel community’s dedication to business education.
Business Week is designed to allow teams of high school students to manage companies through a business simulation for an entire week. In 2019 and 2020 nearly 1,400 western Pennsylvania high school students participated in Pennsylvania Business Week. Students are taught how to manage finances, execute effective advertising campaigns, and work together as a team to achieve success. The program culminates in five competitions at the end of the week: advertising, stockholders, trade show, return on net assets and top company.
