GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College women’s fraternity Zeta Tau Alpha featured pink tape from Duck Tape as part of its campaign this past academic year to support breast cancer education and awareness to raise nearly $1,900.

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ZTA held a “Tape a Tomcat” challenge, where students donated money to purchase a length of pink Duck Tape® that was used to tape a student volunteer to a wall. The interactive event exemplified the inventive spirit of student-led philanthropy and served as both a fundraiser and a high-visibility awareness campaign, drawing attention and participation from across the campus community.

In addition to the Duck Tape® challenge, Thiel’s ZTA chapter also organized t-shirt sales and other initiatives throughout the school year. According to recently compiled statistics, the group dedicated 69.5 hours of volunteer time and raised $1,867 for the organization’s philanthropic cause.

Zeta Tau Alpha’s national philanthropy is breast cancer education and awareness, supported by its THINK-PINK!® campaign. The organization partners nationally with the American Cancer Society® as the National Survivor Ambassador of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer®, and works with Bright Pink®, a nonprofit focused on prevention and early detection, to bring Brighten Up® Educational Workshops to college campuses.

“Thiel College’s Zeta Tau Alpha chapter continues to distinguish itself through service and leadership,” Thiel College Vice President for Communications and Marketing Richard Orr said. “Their creative and spirited approach to fundraising—especially their innovative use of Duck Tape®—reflects the kind of initiative that helps students grow as leaders and make an impact on campus and in the broader community.”

Duck Tape® is a registered trademark of ShurTech Brands, LLC, and is well known for its colorful and expressive designs. Thiel College and Zeta Tau Alpha proudly selected pink Duck Tape® to visually reinforce their commitment to the breast cancer cause.

Thiel College’s Greek organizations play a vital role in student life, offering leadership development opportunities and meaningful service experiences that benefit local and national communities.
