GREENVILLE, Pa.—McDowell High School senior Walter Holtgrefe, of Millcreek Township, has been awarded an academic scholarship worth $129,000 to Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.
The scholarship announcement was made Friday afternoon at the high school with representatives of the school administration and Thiel College along with his parents.
“Walter impressed us all with his academic achievements and his interview. He is a perfect example of the strong student we strive to add to our open and inclusive campus,” Vice President of Enrollment Management Ashley Josay Zullo said. “He has worked hard to get this point and look forward to all that he will achieve at Thiel and beyond.”
Holtgrefe is considering a biology and pre-medicine major at Thiel. He volunteered as an emergency medical technician and was a team captain for the McDowell Air Force Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps.
He is a son of Jim and Susan Holtgrefe, of Millcreek Township.
