    About the Criminal Justice Minor

    The criminal justice minor allows students to work with a diverse and knowledgeable faculty, specializing in criminology and criminal justice.

    Criminal Justice Minor Objectives

    The program provides foundational knowledge in communication, management, and budgeting as tools to accomplish professional tasks effectively. Students will acquire:

    • An understanding of our legal system, the criminal justice process, and the social and political contexts.
    • Insight to different types of crimes, their distribution, and the problem of crime in the United States.
    • Knowledge of the study of the victims of crime and the psychological effects on them of their experience.
    • Communicate technical concepts effectively in writing and orally.
    • Develop interpersonal skills and learn to be a valuable member of a team.

    Criminal Justice Curriculum

    The minor in criminal justice examines the social context and contemporary realities of crime, institutions of criminal justice such as policing, courts, and punishment, and related topics such as reentry, juvenile justice, and victimization.
