    The nursing program at Thiel College is a collaborative program along with Sharon Regional Medical Center-Sharon Regional School of Nursing to graduate students with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Students in the program will be admitted to both Thiel College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program and Sharon Regional’s Registered Nurse program.

    Once enrolled, you will be active members of the Thiel community and eligible for all student life programs and athletics! Upon completion of both programs, students will earn an R.N. through Sharon Regional, and complete additional coursework at Thiel College to graduate with a B.S.N.

    Nursing Major & Courses

    The nursing major is a true liberal arts experience that inclused courses from various academic departments at Thiel, as well as from Sharon Regional Medical Center-Sharon Regional School of Nursing. Students will split time between Thiel's campus and the campus of Sharon Regional in order to complete required coursework. After the student’s third year at Thiel College, and the completion of the program at Sharon Regional, they may take the NCLEX exam.

    Clubs and Organizations

    It's easy to get involved on campus! Joining a student club or organization is an excellent way to meet others and gain leadership experience. Students will have access to Thiel's Health Professions Institute, which applies classroom knowledge to human health and well-being, and guided tours of the unique contributions of literature, philosophy, and the fine arts to the art and science of healing. Students will also be able to attend health professions seminars to provide guidance and resources to assist in your preparation for medical career.

    Nursing is in-demand!

    The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that the number of jobs for all healthcare occupations will grow 18 percent by 2026, which is the highest among all occupational groups in the country.  A report from the Pennsylvania Auditor General suggests that by 2030, Pennsylvania will have a shortage of 4,000 nurses. Earning a B.S.N. from Thiel College and an R.N. through Sharon Regional will prepare you for this growing profession!

    Accreditation Information

    The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at Thiel College is pursuing initial accreditation by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org). Applying for accreditation does not guarantee that accreditation will be granted.

    Nursing Program Mission Statement

    The mission of the Thiel College BSN Program is to graduate Bachelor of Science credentialed registered nurses who have the disciplinary knowledge and skills, clinical preparation and dispositions to provide excellent patient care and serve the needs of the community.

    BSN Program Goals

    1. Graduates will have the critical thinking, interpersonal and technical skills of a nurse generalist to be able to provide quality care in diverse settings and with diverse patients
    2. Graduates will have the academic preparation for entry- level work as a nurse or graduate
    3. Integration of community service and medical outreaches
    4. Development and renovations of new Nursing Department with office space, conference room, and classroom to be completed the end of 2024.

    BSN Program Objectives

    1. Utilize the Professional Code of Ethics and Standards of Care for individuals and families, groups, and communities across the life span.
    2. Utilize critical thinking skills and decision-making for problem-solving.
    3. Integrate effective and appropriate interpersonal communications and information technology.
    4. Apply scientific and nursing theories with Research findings from nursing and other disciplines to provide evidence-based, clinically, competent care.
    5. Provide culturally competent care, health education, health promotion practices to individuals, families, groups, and communities.
    6. Demonstrate leadership and management skills that promote accountability and maintain standards of care legally and ethically in practice.
    7. Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team in planning, coordinating, and evaluating outcomes for healthcare.
    8. Advocate for public policy to provide care and promote the health of the public.
    9. Demonstrate commitment to the nursing profession with life long learning and innovations.
