    About the Environmental Studies Minor

    The Environmental Studies Department is dedicated to training the next generation of environmental scholars, activists, and educators for the world that they will inherit. Environmental Studies students apply critical thinking and analytical skills within an architecture that includes social justice as an essential component.

    Environmental Studies Minor Learning Objectives

    The program provides foundational knowledge in general environmental studies and earth systems as tools to accomplish professional tasks effectively.

    • Become a more environmentally aware steward of the planet.
    • Students learn to solve environmental problems creatively and systematically, using a variety of research tools and techniques.
    • Learn to critically examine environmental issues from multiple perspectives, and to apply their understanding to create informed opinions.
    • Develop interpersonal skills and learn to be a valuable member of a team.
    • Be prepared for entry-level employment in the sciences.

    Environmental Studies Curriculum

    The minor in environmental studies is open to all majors with the objective of providing students with an interdisciplinary perspective on the environmental field enabling them to become a more environmentally aware steward of the planet. Thiel College graduates with the environmental studies minor seeking employment in a variety of areas will have an advantage over candidates without the minor.
