About the Environmental Safety Management Minor

Safety Management is essential in construction, industry, business, and government. This minor equips students with fundamental knowledge and professional skills in safety science and management, emphasizing OSHA regulations.

The minor is designed to complement various majors, enhancing career prospects in industries that prioritize safety. Graduates with a safety minor will be well-prepared for diverse job opportunities with local, state, and federal agencies, as well as in industry. Environmental Safety Management Minor Learning Objectives

The objective of the minor is to provide the student with a basic background in business administration, environmental science, and occupational safety.

Explore important facets of the management of workplace safety including EHS compliance, employee engagement and training, hazard identification and assessment, hazard prevention and control, and EHS program evaluation and improvement.
Discuss the planning and mitigation needed to effectively prepare, prevent and respond to emergencies in the workplace.
Learn to critically examine issues from multiple perspectives, and to apply their understanding to create informed opinions.
Develop interpersonal skills and learn to be a valuable member of a team.

Environmental Safety Management Curriculum

The minor in environmental safety management is open to all majors. It is recommended for science majors and business administration majors. Thiel College graduates with the ESM minor seeking employment in manufacturing, construction, healthcare, and energy industries (oil and gas) will have an advantage over candidates without the minor.
