    About the Economics Minor

Thiel’s accounting minor introduces students to advanced topics in financial and cost accounting, as well to the basics of income tax accounting for individuals. On its own, it will not generally enable students to meet the requirements for professional licensing in accounting, however it will provide career-enhancement opportunities for non-accounting majors seeking to improve their marketable skills.

    Accounting Minor Objectives

The program provides an enhanced understanding of accounting information flows, costing systems, and the general tax environment to students majoring in other business areas. Students will acquire:

    • A mastery of key accounting content areas, such as financial reporting, business and economic concepts, auditing, and regulation.
    • The ability to identify and solve accounting or business problems using analytical and critical thinking skills.
    • Knowledge of economic theories and models.
    • Foundational qualitative and quantitative tools of analysis.
    • Develop interpersonal skills and learn to be a valuable member of a team.
    • Be prepared for entry-level employment in the field of business.

    Accounting Curriculum

The curriculum for our accounting minor provides a broad understanding of basic accounting principles and fundamental skills applicable to most business employment opportunities.
