GREENVILLE, Pa.—Six Thiel College students were recently recognized and awarded Thiel Team Students of the Spring for their work in the Office of Admissions this past semester.
The six students who received this award for the Spring 2023 semester are Toby Atwood ’26, Nick Kristian ’26, Rebekah Ladaika ’23, Taya Sykes ’24, Mezekiah Tobias ’24, and Natalie Zgurich ’23.
Atwood, of Kittaning, Pa., is pursuing a certificate in early childhood education/special education. In earning the recognition, an admissions representative said, “Toby stayed late after an event to tour a family, who all said she did an excellent job. She makes all her tours feel very comfortable and exhibits great knowledge of Thiel.”
Kristian, of Aliquippa, Pa., is majoring in accounting. In earning the recognition, an admissions representative said, “Nick did an excellent job in learning how to give tours and taking the initiative to give tours to prospective families. He also represents our office and the soccer team by helping potential recruits.”
Ladaika, of Erie, Pa., graduated as a communication sciences and disorders major and will be attending Thiel for her Master of Science in speech-language pathology. In earning the recognition, an admissions representative said, “Rebekah exceled behind the scenes of our office by helping organize applications and students’ files. She completed her work diligently and was always willing to assist with additional tasks.”
Sykes, of Erie, Pa., is majoring in business administration. In earning the recognition, an admissions representative said, “Taya excels in front desk management, as she welcomes our guests to campus and has an engaging and positive attitude when giving tours and making phone calls.”
Tobias, of Akron, Ohio, is majoring in business administration. In earning the recognition, an admissions representative said, “Mezekiah took great initiative over break by volunteering to tour prospective students, and he portrayed a great example of our Thiel Community.”
Zgurich, of Pittsburgh, Pa., graduated as a business administration major. In earning the recognition, an admissions representative said, “Natalie never hesitated to help when needed, and she always came in early to prepare for visitors arriving on campus, bringing with her a welcoming presence.”
The Thiel Team is comprised of students employed by the Office of Admission. The students primarily serve as ambassadors for prospective students and their families, but they are also responsible for a variety of other jobs including work on mailings, market research, telemarketing, event support, and other administrative, professional, and office duties.
