Meet the Resch Foundation
The Resch Foundation was established in 2000, in memory of the late Mrs. Marion G. Resch, an upstanding member of the Mahoning Valley community and philanthropist. During her lifetime, Mrs. Resch always held education in special regard and, true to her legacy, the Resch Foundation is committed to promoting the education of young people throughout the Mahoning Valley. The Resch Foundation upholds Mrs. Resch’s commitment by supporting both college scholarships for students from the Mahoning Valley and early intervention programs to support younger, high school students who dream of entering college and expanding their educational realm, but may lack the environment and common support necessary to realize that dream.
This is Mrs. Resch’s legacy and Thiel College is delighted to be entrusted as a steward of the legacy and generosity of Marion Resch, through the Marion G. Resch Science Scholarship at Thiel College.

What is the Resch Science Scholarship:
Beginning in the school year 2006-2007, The Resch Science Scholarship Program at Thiel College has provided college funding opportunities to 6 young adults from the Mahoning Valley. In the fall semesters of 2007, 2008, and 2009, a a total of 21 additional students were admitted under the Resch Science Scholarship. For the academic year 2013-2014, the total number of new scholarships will be six.
The scholarships are awarded to students who, through their high school years have shown both interest and promise in their academic performance in science, and have made commendable efforts in other subjects as well. The scholarship applies to students committed to earning a Bachelors degree in biology, chemistry, environmental science, neuroscience, communication sciences and disorders or physics. All science-related pre-professional areas of study as well as secondary education science, are also included in the program. Further, to encourage the interest of young women in the natural and physical sciences, ½ of the scholarship awards are provisionally reserved for young women who meet the qualifications as described below.

What the Marion G. Resch Science Scholarship
Provides:
The Resch Science Scholarship Program at Thiel College provides partial tuition funds (after all other possible scholarships, grants and other tuition reduction programs have been applied), which are exclusively intended to alleviate out-of-pocket (cash and loans) tuition needs of newly enrolling undergraduate students who have completed their high school education at an academically-oriented high school in Mahoning, Columbiana or Trumbull County, Ohio within the last six months, prior to their first freshman semester.
As of the date of publish of this website (updated January 7, 2013), the Resch Board of Trustees has afforded provisional approval and funding which will provide $6,000 scholarships to six worthy applicants who desire admission to Thiel College for Fall 2013. This program is intended to provide annual support, for four years for each student, however, each year, the Thiel College Office of Educational Outreach will make grant requests on behalf of students who have been awarded funds in the previous years. Thus, Thiel College and the Resch Foundation are continuing to work together to assure scholarship funding for students receiving first year awards. In its final form, the scholarship program would provide similar tuition funding through all four years of college for each student. The scholarship dollars can only be used at Thiel College, Greenville, PA.
