GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is partnering with Notre Dame College to provide a seamless transition for Notre Dame students affected by the suburban Cleveland college’s closure announcement on March 4.

Administrators from the college announced on March 4 that the century-old Roman Catholic school will close at the end of the spring semester. As part of the teach-out agreement, Thiel College will honor the arrangements previously made by Notre Dame College students, ensuring they can continue their education with minimal disruption. Thiel College will be participating in the Teach-Out Fair on March 13 at Notre Dame College.

“We’re pleased to offer these students a new academic home,” Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. said. “Our goal is to provide a supportive environment where they can continue their studies success. We’re committed to working closely with these students to ensure a smooth transition and to support them in achieving their academic and personal goals.”

“We are doing everything we can to ensure a smooth transition for our students to continue their education,” Notre Dame College Interim President John Smetanka said.

According to the teach-out agreement, Thiel College will accept all Notre Dame student credits toward an equal or comparable degree and offer student-centered services regarding advising, academic support, and student life to ensure the success of continuing Notre Dame students.

Net tuition and fees will be the same during the 2024-25 academic year as what students were paying at Notre Dame. Notre Dame students who meet the prerequisites will also have access to Thiel’s graduate degree programs.

“The Thiel community will be focused on aiding and assisting Notre Dame students to alleviate the uncertainty they might be feeling,” Traverso said. “We all recognize the challenges these students are facing and are committed to supporting them during this transition.”
