GREENVILLE, Pa.—WKBN news anchor Lindsey Watson, was among several professionals who were recognized for making an impact as a role model for high school and college students through her professional achievements and commitment to civic engagement. She was honored at the third annual Thiel College Mentor of the Year Awards.
Watson (pictured above with her presenter, Thiel College Instructional Technology Specialist/AV Coordinator Paul Coatsworth) was presented with the 2024 James Pedas ’50 H’89 Communications Professional of the Year Award.
The event recognizes extraordinary professional and civic contributions, celebrating the deep connections they foster within the community. Overall, six educators and six professionals from the arts; business; media, science, technology, engineering, math; education; and were recognized this year.
“Many of us fondly recall someone who influenced our college choice or career path, and the Mentor Awards is an opportunity to recognize individuals who have profoundly motivated Thiel students,” Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. said. “Thiel is committed to our region, so it is equally important to recognize the many contributions of professionals who serve as role models for our high school and college students.”
Previous recipients of the James Pedas ’50, H’89 Communications Professional of the Year Award include Jim Cunningham ’77, senior executive producer at WQED Multimedia, and Greg Vorse ’06, sports information director at Jamestown (N.Y.) Community College.
