GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College is hosting two online and an in-person workshop for students, families and community members interested in learning more about the new Free Application For Federal Student Aid.
On Tuesday, March 5, the College will host two separate free online workshops. The first is at noon and the second is at 6 p.m. The sessions should last an hour or less. Director of Financial Aid Michelle Work and her team will be online to review some frequently asked questions that have been received about FAFSA this year, updates from the federal government and helpful tips for filing. Individual breakout rooms following the general discussion will be available. Both online sessions are free events and open to the public but registration is required.
The in-person event is at 1 p.m. March 23, in the James Pedas Communication Center computer lab on campus. This free event is open to the public.
The workshop will include general help filling out the FAFSA or Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency forms as well as individual assistance from the College’s financial aid team.
Attendees must register before the event.
Work recommends that all students file a FAFSA. Due to the FAFSA Simplification Act, more students will be eligible for aid than ever before and students and families may be surprised to discover what they are eligible for and applying is free, she said.
Students should also complete their FAFSA as a first step to determining their eligibility for state grant funds from their home state, too, Work said.
“We’re thrilled to offer this free FAFSA workshop to our community. At Thiel College, we believe that access to financial aid resources should be available to all who seek higher education. Whether you’re a student, family member, or community member, we welcome you to join us,” Thiel College Vice President for Enrollment Management and Financial Aid Ashley Zullo said. “Our goal is to provide support and guidance through the FAFSA process, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to pursue their educational goals without unnecessary financial barriers.”
