GREENVILLE, Pa.—Julianna Sloan ’25 M.S.’26, a graduate student in the physician assistant program at Thiel College, has been appointed the student representative to the Veterans Caucus of the American Academy of Physician Assistants.

Sloan’s medical and military career began shortly after her high school graduation in 2021. She completed emergency medical technician training that summer and volunteered as an EMT throughout her undergraduate years. In 2022, she joined the Army National Guard and serves as a fire direction control specialist with an artillery unit. She is also certified as a Combat Lifesaver and has earned Honor Graduate distinctions in multiple service schools.

Sloan, who graduated from Thiel with a health systems major, is the first member of her family to serve in the military or attend college. As a student, she was involved in Thiel’s Pre-PA Club and competed on the softball and volleyball teams. Sloan is from Kingsville, Ohio and is a 2021 graduate of Edgewood High School.

In her new role, Sloan will represent and advocate for veteran and military-affiliated PA students as part of the Veterans Caucus Board of Directors. The Caucus promotes the education, mentorship, and support of veterans and military service members pursuing careers as physician assistants.

“I’m especially drawn to this role because I believe in representing and advocating for veteran and military-affiliated PA students,” Sloan said.

Sloan plans to pursue a career in emergency medicine and is working toward commissioning as an Army physician associate.

“I take pride in my service and I am passionate about continuing my career in both the military and medicine,” she said.

Sloan is the second student from Thiel to serve in this role. Thiel physician assistant student Brooke Phelps M.S.’25 served on the board in 2024.
