GREENVILLE, Pa.—Deep Well Services CEO Mark Marmo ’93, was among several professionals who were recognized for making an impact as a role model for high school and college students through his professional achievements and commitment to civic engagement. He was honored at the third annual Thiel College Mentor of the Year Awards.
Marmo was presented with the 2024 Simon Chiu, M.D., Ph.D. ’73 Science Professional Award. He is a Thiel graduate and former Board of Trustees member. During his time as CEO, he has been highly influential to the company’s overall success and safety culture. Deep Well Services is a technology and training company that specializes in high-pressure, long lateral, and multi-well completion and workover operations. Established in 2008, the DWS family has grown from its small-town Appalachian roots to becoming the premier oilfield services company for over 70 different exploration and production companies in North and South America.
“We are thrilled to celebrate Mark’s commitment to the College,” Vice President of College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “Mark is an example of the lasting connection our graduates make with the College. The members of our 15,000-plus person alumni network maintain lifelong associations and that makes Thiel College a special place.”
The event recognizes extraordinary professional and civic contributions, celebrating the deep connections they foster within the community. Overall, six educators and six professionals from the arts; business; media, science, technology, engineering, math; education; and were recognized this year.
