GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College Associate Professor of Communications Lana V. Kulik, Ph.D. was recently awarded tenure.
Kulik, who holds a Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Public Affairs from Louisiana State University, has taught at Thiel College since 2016. She teaches a wide range of courses, including Public Relations Writing, Media Literacy, Political Communication, and Crisis Communication.
Kulik’s research focuses on media systems and controls in various political contexts, international public relations, and the political economy of media, particularly in post-Soviet environments. Her work has been widely published, including contributions to significant academic volumes such as “Central Asia: Contexts for Understanding” and the forthcoming “Central Asian Women in Leadership.”
Kulik’s professional experience extends beyond academia, as she has served as a freelance writer, editor, researcher, and public relations consultant, assisting Russian-language dissidents in getting published in English and providing communication consultancy in post-Soviet environments. She has also held faculty positions at Georgia State University, where she taught International Communication and Public Relations.
She was awarded an American University of Central Asia travel grant in 2023 to teach at the Human Rights Summer School in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Kulik has also played an active role in the Thiel College community, serving on the Faculty Council, the Assessment Committee, and contributing as a peer reviewer for prominent academic journals.
