GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College has launched a new Bachelor of Science in nutrition program, expanding its academic offerings in health sciences and supporting growing student interest in wellness, public health, and allied health careers.
The program was approved by the Thiel College Board of Trustees during its meeting on Saturday, Feb. 14, with new students beginning in Fall 2026. The Trustees also approved the creation of a Master of Science in nutrition and dietetics. The College is seeking accreditation for its M.S. in nutrition and dietetics, which is scheduled to open in 2027.
The nutrition major provides a science-based curriculum focused on human biology, food science, and applied nutrition, with options for an accelerated three-year pathway or a traditional four-year track. Designed for students interested in careers in nutrition, dietetics, community health, and pre-professional health pathways, the program emphasizes personalized learning, small class sizes, and hands-on academic experiences.
“The addition of the nutrition major reflects Thiel College’s commitment to developing forward-looking academic programs that meet student interests and workforce needs,” said Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College Sheila Nowinski, Ph.D. “This program blends scientific rigor with experiential learning and personalized advising, preparing students to make meaningful contributions in healthcare, community wellness, and graduate study.”
Students will explore topics such as nutrition and metabolism, nutrition across the lifespan, food safety, and disease prevention through a curriculum that integrates applied labs, internships, and community-based learning opportunities.
The new program complements Thiel College’s existing strengths in science and health-related fields while advancing the institution’s focus on personalized education, career readiness, and applied learning. Graduates will be prepared for careers in hospitals, clinics, community nutrition programs, corporate wellness organizations, and the broader food and nutrition industry, as well as for advanced study in dietetics, public health, and medicine.
