GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College has recently appointed Liza Schaef the Career Development Center director and Jodie Witherite the Disability Resource Center interim coordinator.

Before her appointment, Schaef served as the Coordinator for Thiel’s Disability Resource Center. She was appointed to the position in August 2019.

“I’m excited to work with Liza in this new role. Her familiarity with Thiel’s students and her regional connections made her an ideal candidate for the position” said Associate Academic Dean for Student Success Greg Butcher, Ph.D.

The Career Development Center provides career and job services to students, alumni and employers. It partners with students to develop a personalized career plan and provide career-related opportunities that enable their professional and career development. Schaef has a Bachelor of Science in special education/rehabilitative sciences from Clarion University and a Master of Arts in counseling from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania.

For the spring semester, Witherite, a counselor in Thiel’s Counseling Center, will serve as interim Disability Resource Coordinator. A recent survey indicated that about 15 percent of Thiel College’s students sought services through the Disability Resource Center. Witherite got a Bachelor of Science in social work from Slippery Rock University and a Master’s degree in social work from the University of Pittsburgh.

Schaef’s and Witherite’s prior experience working together will ensure that students continue to receive support during the transition, Butcher said.
