Michelle Work appointed as Thiel College’s Director of Financial Aid

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Michelle Work is the new Director of Financial Aid at Thiel College.

Work attended Clarion University before receiving her bachelor’s degree in business management from Western Governors University in November 2019. She worked in a variety of banking and financial services positions before being hired in January 2016 as the financial aid administrator for the Sharon and Hermitage campuses of the Laurel Technical Institute. She accepted her first position with the College as a financial aid specialist in August 2019 until her appointment to the position of executive director of financial aid in October 2021.

“I am honored to be offered this exciting opportunity,” said Work. “I look forward to continuing to serve the students at Thiel in this new role.”

Work and her husband have four children, three grandchildren, and two rescue dogs. In her free time, she works with her husband to run their auto salvage business.

Work replaces Cindy Farrell ’77, who worked at the College for 43 years before her retirement in September.

The primary goal of the Financial Aid Office is to work with students and their families to achieve their educational goals despite financial difficulties. The Executive Director of Financial Aid works diligently with students to help ensure they are appropriately equipped with the grants, federal student loans, and scholarships they need to invest in their education and in their future.
