‘Free Hugs Guy’ and Soul Food Feast highlight Black History Month events at Thiel College

GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Organization of Black Collegiates at Thiel College will host “Free Hugs Guy” Ken Nwadike Jr. as a speaker and their annual Soul Food Feast highlighting a list of Black History Month events.

Nwadike Jr. is an American documentary filmmaker, motivational speaker, and peace activist popularly known as the “Free Hugs Guy.” He has been featured on CNN, FOX, New York Times, Boston Globe, San Diego Union-Tribune, Buzzfeed, NBC, USA Today, and many other major news sites. He is best known for his viral videos on Facebook and Youtube, which have reached hundreds of millions of views

The O.B.C. plans events throughout the last full week of February every year to celebrate Black History Month. For a full list of Black History Month events and other activities go to www.thiel.edu/calendar.

“Partnering with the O.B.C. is a great way of highlighting different cultures on campus,” Director of Student Activities and Involvement Than Oo said. “We appreciate that they take the lead on campus about educating the Thiel community about minority issues in a way that is appropriate and acceptable to everyone.”
