Cleveland-area financial officer named Thiel vice president for finance and administration

GREENVILLE, Pa.—Thiel College announces Amy M. Arbogast will be the new Vice President for Finance and Administration at Thiel College.

Arbogast was hired following a national search and will start in June. She will replace Senior Vice President for Finance and Management Bob Schmoll, who is retiring at the end of June after nine years with the College.

“I am pleased to welcome Amy to the Thiel College family. She possesses a wealth of leadership experience in the corporate finance, non-profit and education sectors. I look forward to working closely with her and alongside the rest of the College community to advance the College’s financial growth and positive momentum,” said Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. “We are grateful for Bob’s hard work and dedication to the College and feel very fortunate that Amy will get the benefit of his expertise in June as the College makes this transition.”

As the vice president for finance and administration, she will be a member of the President’s Cabinet and will be the College’s chief financial and administrative officer. She will provide financial leadership to the campus community and collaborate with other members of the President’s Cabinet to accomplish strategic priorities. She will supervise business and account services functions, human resources, maintenance and facilities and information technology.

Arbogast is currently the chief financial officer and treasurer at Vocational Guidance Services in Cleveland. VGS is a vocational rehabilitation agency with a 130-year history in northeastern and central. She started at VGS as chief financial officer in 2017. At Vocational Guidance Services, she directed the organization’s financial, budgetary, and accounting practices as well as coordinated its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community. Arbogast spent six years as the Vice President of Finance and Administration at Magnificat High School, an all-girls Catholic, college-preparatory high school.  Before working at Magnificat, she spent seven years at The Sherwin-Williams Company headquarters in downtown Cleveland in various financial roles. Arbogast earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a Master of Business Administration from Kent State University and recently earned an Executive Scholar Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. A graduate of the Cleveland Leadership Center’s Leadership Cleveland Class of 2019, she is also a member of Finance Council for St. Joseph Parish in Avon Lake and is active with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
