GREENVILLE, Pa.—Olivia Brown was recently named the new Assistant Director of the Career Development Center at Thiel College.

Brown earned an associate’s degree in business administration from Butler County Community College, and she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Franklin University where she graduated summa cum laude while also working 40+ hours a week.

Brown was previously the Executive Director at the Shenango Valley Chamber of Commerce where she established and maintained effective working relationships with potential and current employers. Her duties there included working with board and committee members to reinvent events, increase memberships, and create new networking opportunities, all of which required skillsets that align with her new position in the Thiel College Career Development Center.

In her new role as assistant director, Brown will be responsible for supporting the department’s mission to aid students in finding, preparing for, and securing employment placements and career opportunities. She will establish and maintain working relationships with potential student employers, and will support recruiting activities for part-time and full-time employment openings, internships, and other experiential learning opportunities. She will also help manage on and off-campus federal work studies, organize and set the annual recruiting calendar, and coordinate employer information sessions, interviews and networking events.

“I am excited for the opportunity to bring new and innovative ideas and connections between employers and students through career tablings, internships, and job opportunities,” Brown said. “I am also excited to assist in the career development of students through mock interviews, class presentations, and more.”

Being a native of Greenville, Pennsylvania, Brown found herself attracted to working within the Thiel community. “Thiel has always been my dream location to work, and having several friends already employed made Thiel feel like a second home,” said Brown.

Brown and her husband, Anthony, share a five-year-old daughter, Madilynn. The family has three labs, including a chocolate lab, Riley, a yellow lab, Moe, and a black lab, Marley, as well as a pet turtle, River. Brown and her family enjoy camping, four-wheeling, and playing games together. “During the fall, you will find me watching NFL football, college football, or NASCAR,” Brown said.
