GREENVILLE, Pa.—The Thiel College chapter of the Kappa Sigma fraternity is holding a spaghetti dinner fundraiser and raffle on Wednesday, March 6 to raise money for the Reynolds VFW.

The spaghetti dinner begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Lutheran Heritage Room of the Howard Miller Student Center. Pre-order tickets are $10 and tickets at the door at $15.

As part of the fundraiser, $10 tickets are being sold for a raffle for a Yeti cooler, valued at $450.

The VFW was destroyed by a fire on Februrary 15. According to published reports, 14 area fire companies responded to the blaze.

“The Thiel College community is deeply saddened by the devastating fire at the Reynolds VFW. Our hearts go out to all those affected by this disaster, especially to the veterans who relied on the VFW as a gathering place and support network,” Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D. said. "This fundraiser is one example of our connection as neighboring institutions. We want to emphasize our solidarity with our veterans and the broader community during this difficult time.”

Kappa Sigma's national philanthropy is the Military Heroes Campaign in 2007. The campaign honors and aids thousands of military veterans and their families in communities throughout the U.S. and Canada. Since its inception, the campaign has donated over $1 million to non-profit organizations that advocate on behalf of servicemen and women and those wounded in combat. New in 2023, money raised by the local chapter’s 28th annual See-Saw-A-Thon went directly to local veterans. The Reynolds VFW coordinated with the Greenville and Jamestown VFWs to find local veterans to benefit from the collection.
