GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Students from several Pennsylvania high schools will be at Thiel College Friday and Saturday as the College hosts the 39th annual Pennsylvania Academic Decathlon state championship.
The regional winning teams will each bring nine students. Winners of the state championship qualify for the Academic Decathlon national championship on April 27-29 in Frisco, Texas, near Dallas. Team registration will be Friday at noon in the Bly Auditorium of the Academic Center.
Categories of testing include essay writing, music, art, literature, mathematics, social science, economics, science and a super quiz relay. The theme for this year’s competition is the American Revolution. The competition will include an answer-and-question event modeled after the popular gameshow Jeopardy!. Competitions will run throughout Saturday and awards will be presented during the closing ceremony.
The two-day event showcases the best and brightest of the program from across the state.
Events will be judged by Thiel College faculty and staff and community volunteers from across the region.
