Technology strategy and quality control expert begins term on Thiel College Board of Trustees

GREENVILLE, Pa.-- Experienced project manager and technology strategy expert Virginia Moszkowicz ’74 recently began her first term as a member of the Thiel College Board of Trustees.

Moszkowicz started her career in analytical chemistry at Bayer Chemical Co. before moving to Eastman Kodak Company where she formulated motion picture film and was awarded a film patent. She was selected to be a Sloan Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, earning a master’s in technology strategy. Upon returning to Kodak, she led an industrial engineering department manufacturing copiers. During her time in equipment manufacturing, she was involved in a partnership with Motorola to develop the Six Sigma Black Belt program, becoming one of the first certified Six Sigma Black Belts. She went on to become a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt practicing business analytics as well as teaching and coaching Black Belts at Xerox, Pitney Bowes, R.R. Donnelly, Verizon and Steel Connect. A Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional who is trained in the Six Sigma methodology, a set of techniques and tools for process improvement that aims to eliminate defects and errors in a process. The goal is to improve overall efficiency, reduce variability, and enhance customer satisfaction. Black Belt in Six Sigma is borrowed from martial arts and signifies a level of expertise and extensive training in Six Sigma principles and methodologies. Moszkowicz designed curriculum and a worldwide development program at Steel Connect as V.P. of Continuous Improvement for the IT supply chain company.

Moszkowicz earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry with a minor in mathematics at Thiel College and while at Thiel she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Moszkowicz also earned a master’s degree in organic chemistry at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh.

She served on the Board of Directors of Lifetime Assistance, a non-profit offering services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Rochester, N.Y.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for the oversight of Thiel College. The Board adopts rules, regulations and policies governing Thiel College and has authority over curricular development, use of property, development of facilities and fiscal and human resources management. The Board of Trustees meets formally three times a year on campus.
