GREENVILLE, Pa.-- To celebrate her inaugural year, Thiel College President Susan Traverso, Ph.D., will attend three off-campus “Meet the President” events in September.

The first will be held at Avalon Country Club at Buhl Park in Hermitage, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 8 from 6-8 p.m. Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees John Frangakis and his wife, Teresa, will host this occasion for alumni, friends and the community to meet Traverso.

The second will be at the Duquesne Club in downtown Pittsburgh on Thursday, Sept. 15 from 6-8 p.m.

The third will be held at the Erie Yacht Club in Erie, Pa., on Thursday, Sept. 22 from 6-8 p.m. Chair of the Board of Trustees Barry Stamm, M.D. ’70 and his wife, Carol (Yeager) ’71, will host the evening.

Time at these events will be set aside for members of the media who would like to speak with President Traverso.

“We are pleased to welcome President Traverso to Thiel College,” interim Vice President for College Advancement Roberta Leonard said. “This is a great opportunity for alumni and friends to meet President Traverso and see first-hand the extensive and distinctive background in higher education, passion for student engagement and extensive administrative skills that she brings to this vital leadership position. As we celebrate Thiel’s sesquicentennial and continue to build upon the success of the Thiel 2016 Campaign, President Traverso looks forward to meeting alumni, friends and partners of the institution and sharing her vision for the College.”

Traverso took office Aug. 1 as Thiel College’s 20th president. The College made history at a press conference in May when it announced Traverso as its first female president. Traverso brings student-centered strategies and a focus on successful graduate outcomes to Thiel College. She has served in various leadership roles at distinguished colleges and universities across the country. Most recently, Traverso’s initiatives at

Elizabethtown College included creating a special office for sponsored research and programs, developing a school of continuing and professional studies, and establishing a center for community and civic engagement.

She will also continue building on her significant fundraising experience. Traverso coordinated $60 million in campus improvements and advanced fundraising priorities that resulted in $20 million of external funding at Elizabethtown. Traverso’s fundraising skills will be a key component as she looks to maintain the momentum of Thiel College’s record-breaking Thiel 2016 Campaign—which has raised more than $62 million—and continues through the end of this year.

Interested members of the media should contact Public Relations Coordinator Caleb McCracken or at 724-589-2151 to schedule a time to speak with Traverso.
