    Phi Alpha Theta

Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society, was founded in 1921. The society has initiated 200,000-plus members in over 740 chapters in all 50 of the United States and in Canada, the Philippines and Puerto Rico.

Phi Alpha Theta encourages the research, publication and teaching of history, as well as exchanges among students, teachers and authors of history throughout the world.

Students at accredited colleges and universities who have completed the required history courses and maintained high standards in their studies are eligible for membership.

Established in 1957, Thiel's Zeta Epsilon chapter is one of the oldest in the region. Students must have above a 3.0 average and 12 credit hours of history courses. Although Phi Alpha Theta is not restricted to history majors, students must have enough hours to qualify for membership.

    History Travels

A junior year abroad experience allows a student to broaden his/her outlook through travel. Additionally, other service trips take place.
