Student News

A panel of young alumnae share their thoughts and experiences

Morgan Reisz ’18, Madalyn Harding ’19, Ashton Camerot ’22, and Madeline DePalma ’22, were the featured speakers at the March 1 Ruth A. Miller Senior Business Seminar. Morgan is a financial analyst at Crown Castle, Madalyn a product manager at SAE International, Ashton a funeral apprentice at Rose & Black Funeral Home & Crematory, and Madeline a leasing & property coordinator at the Hudson Companies.

“I really enjoyed tonight’s presentation by the young alumni panel. It was interesting to hear their point of view on how they found Thiel because they were all different from each other.” Ian Yahner ’24

“Wednesday night’s group of young women were so inspiring, as I could relate to them in a much more impactful way. The advice they gave was very insightful and provided an interesting perspective of what a career journey can look like at the beginning.” Allison Walsh ’24

“On a nice Wednesday afternoon, a group of young women alumni came in and talked to the class. These alumni were 2018 to 2022 graduates. They talked about their time here at Thiel and most importantly networking. Even though these young adults all had different career pursuits and stories they all had one thing in common. That one thing being networking.” Emily Grandy ’23

“Morgan Reisz majored in accounting and business with a minor in chemistry. As a junior, she switched her major to accounting and shortly after secured an internship. She went on to complete this internship the summer before her senior year and upon completion of the internship, she was offered a full-time job. So, before she even graduated, she had a full-time job.” Tyler Zere ’23

“Ms. Harding gave us a lot of advice and tips for us to use, like how she strongly recommends prepping for an interview and to make sure you are selling yourself, that thank you notes are important to make a good impression of yourself, and that you may not be the smartest or the loudest in the room, but you can always be the kindest.” Autumn Gourley ’24

“Maddie DePalma emphasized that networking is everything. Making connections in college your senior year could make a smooth transaction into the real world.” Asher Patton ’23

“Ms. Camerot told us how having resources is a huge help, and Thiel has ones you cannot buy. She gave us a lot of advice based on her experience balancing school, work, and life in general.” Autumn Gourley ’24

“Just as our last speaker emphasized, a few of the young alumni stressed the value in getting our student loans paid off as soon as possible. This was already something I had planned on doing to some degree, but now it is more of a central part of my post-graduation plans.” Allison Walsh ’24

“Thiel does an exceptional job of preparing you for the next step, but everyone’s path is different after they graduate college.” Natalie Zgurich ’23

“Being a business major myself, I found each presentation interesting because they all were business majors so what they are doing now in life is produced from getting a business degree here at Thiel.” Ian Yahner ’24

“Another thing that each of these women mentioned was how real imposter syndrome is the first year of working. I had not really thought of that before, and I appreciate being made more aware of some of the hardships I may face starting out in my career.” Allison Walsh ’24

“In conclusion, these alumni used their relationships and resources provided from Thiel and got themselves a job out of college in something they love to do.” Emily Grandy ’23
