President Susan Traverso, Ph.D., is presented with a certificate of acknowledgment for speaking at last week’s luncheon by Rotary Club President Mark Ferrara.
Chief Eric Allen and his staff are hosting active shooter training for all interested and available employees. The training is from 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Light refreshments will be served. Participants will meet in Bly Hall for a 30- to 40-minute presentation. The group will move to various classrooms in the Academic Center to partake in hands-on scenarios. Participants will learn basic A.L.I.C.E. (Alter-Lockdown-Inform-Counter-Evacuate) response methods and engage in different types of lockdowns, evacuations and counter strategies.
Because this is a challenging time for many employees to get away from their office, the Public Safety Department is also available to hold department-specific training. Additional trainings will also be made available to all employees throughout the academic year.
For those unable to attend or interested in providing more training within a department, please contact Chief Allen at ext. 2186 to schedule a session.
The annual employee retreat “Engaging Students for Success” is Tuesday, Aug. 23. The retreat begins with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. President Traverso will begin the presentations at 8:30 a.m. Members of The President's Cabinet, staff and faculty will lead breakout sessions. The retreat ends with a campus-wide luncheon.
The retreat will be followed at 5 p.m. by the annual employee picnic. The cheer and dance teams and the Thiel Tomcat Marching Pride will perform. There will be activities for children, including a bounce house, face and glitter paint station, and a balloon artist.
