Sarah McConnell ’18 has known since first grade what she wanted to do—teach history. In this new video, she talks about discovering the power and potential of getting an internship in her sophomore year at Appomattox Court House.

This fall, a group of 20 cyclists met and formed the Thiel College Cycling Club. So far, they’ve scheduled a ride on the woodland trails of Lake Wilhelm, just 12 miles east of campus, and two more rides across the farm country of Mercer County. Since its first meeting, the group has grown to more than 30 members.
This winter meetings might include time on the spinning bikes, and in the spring, there are plans for club fundraisers, a century ride and some multiday trips.

The 2015-2016 academic year is the 15th anniversary of the founding of the Thiel College chapter of Sigma Tau Delta English honorary society.
The Thiel College chapter has been invited to the 2016 International Convention on March 2-5 in Minneapolis, Minn. where members will be presented with a special plaque to mark their anniversary.
Since the honorary was founded in 1924, it has grown to include more than 875 chapters throughout the U.S. and abroad. Annually the organization provides members with thousands of dollars in scholarships and awards, makes available various internships and conducts an international convention that draws over 1,000 participants from many of its chapters.
Tomcat Tributes are designed to recognize the teamwork Thiel College employees exhibit each day. Employees can nominate co-workers for recognition in four categories (Random Act of Kindness, Going the Extra Mile, Had a Great Idea, Just Because).
The Thiel College women's volleyball team is selling handcrafted wreaths created by a local artisan.
The colors, words and logos are all personalized. Wreaths cost $25.

Braden changing roles
Assistant Director of Facilities Kim Braden ’01 moves from Maintenance to Information Technology starting Monday, Nov. 30. Braden will be working with Solution Center Specialist Brendan Connelly to learn his position and take over for him when he leaves in January.
"Though Brendan will be sorely missed, I’m relieved that we were able to find such a quality individual to fill his role," Vice President for Technology and Marketing Kurt Ashley, M.B.A., said.
November pay date change
The Thanksgiving pay date for hourly and salary employees will be changed to Wednesday, Nov. 25. Pay statements and checks will be distributed that day. Hourly timesheets should be submitted to the Payroll Office by noon Friday.
